Violence - Something you learn?

Violence - Never Ending?

Is violence something you learn? When I was doing my training in childcare back in Germany we learned that children who caused trouble were troubled children. Often they would live in violent circumstances. One advice would be that we should teach them to act out their violence in a non violent way. So instead of taking them out to a boxing club, teach them to talk about their feelings and help them to understand what is going on inside them. Violence is often an expression of helplessness when people do not have the words to express how they feel.

The other advice was to show them alternatives to violence, show them to own their feelings. Very often children who are beaten will develop into adults who are beating their children because they do not know how else to behave, but that is not always the case. I knew people who have experienced severe violence as children and they said that they would never inflict something like that on their children as this ruined their whole life.

So where is violence coming from? Do we not all want to live in peace? In some cases violence is needed to defend yourself and your own needs. But what about children bullying other children? What do they gain through their violence? Last week I read about a woman who was bullied as a child at school. One of the cruelties inflicted on her was that other children would push her head into the toilet and keep flushing it. She is now a grown up woman but as a result of that abuse she drinks very little today so that she does not need to go to the toilet so often. She is still scared and frightened and reminded of that horrible incident in her childhood. She was permanently damaged from this horrible experience but she is not the sick person here. She needs help but so do the people who traumatised her.

Homoeopathy can bring this help. It can help the woman to be able to face the toilet again without fear and it can help the people who did that to her. I'm so glad to be a Homoeopath and able to tell people: "There is help here for you. You do not have to suffer. There is hope!"

Please get in contact with me if you want to know a bit more about how Homoeopathy could help you.
