Little sibling

The Other One Of The Family

Last week I was talking about the humble onion which does so much good. This week I will introduce you to its sibling from the same family, Allium sativa, the garlic. Garlic is not only delicious raw and cooked in salads, sauces and dips, it is also very healthy.  You can even grow it in your garden if you have one.

It is the only food which can reverse arteriosclerosis. It also has a reputation for lowering the blood pressure. There are also other health benefits which are too many to list here but I'm sure that you can do your own research on the internet about the health benefits of eating garlic.

There is a down side, like with the humble onion, of course. You might have guessed it. It is the smell. The stink of garlic can not only be detected from the mouth of the person who ate it, like with onions, it also comes through the pores of the skin for 2 days after consuming it. I got into trouble many times for indulging in too much garlic, believe me.

Of course, there is also a Homoeopathic remedy made from garlic, which is called Allium sativa. In terms of Homoeopathy Allium sativa is the little sibling to Allium cepa, the onion. In Homoeopathy, Allium cepa is a polycrest which means that it is a remedy with a wide range of action. The remedy Allium sativa acts differently to its closely related big sister Allium cepa.

Allium sativas' symptom range revolves more around digestive troubles and suits persons who eat a great deal more than they drink.

Apart from that it can help with a cold where the mucous is dried up with pressive pain from above the root of the nose which makes it a perfect remedy to help with sinusitis. There are more ways where Allium sativa might be able to help you because Homoeopathy is a very individual medicine and the right remedy depends on how the individual person experiences the health issues. So this is no guide for self medication but here to wet your appetite to give Homoeopathy a go. Don't delay, give me a ring on 07813 195468. Looking forward to hear from you.

This is where my garlic grows
