Its always the sun

Walking On The Sunny Side Of Life

It is so nice that finally it's getting warmer and the sun is shining. We had quite a cold, rainy start to the year and I was wondering if spring would ever come . The garden was not growing very well either and quite untypically we didn't have a warm spell at all.

So I must admit that I really do enjoy the warm weather and the garden is enjoying it too. And I can now enjoy the garden. So last Sunday was spend entirely in the garden and I was busy planting, sowing and tidying up.

The thing about being in the garden all day is that you do not recognize when you had too much sun, particularly when you are busy. So it is not uncommon to have a burned back, arms and face. It's not only that this can be quite painful, it also might damage your skin to such extent that you might get cancer at a later stage in life.

We do need sun on the skin so that our body can built vitamin D which is important for the bones. We also need the sunshine for our eyes which does not mean that we should look directly into the sun. You should NEVER look directly into the sun. Just daylight and being out in the sunlight will do the trick. So there is a fine balance between getting enough sun and not getting burned. One way to avoid getting burned is wearing clothes after a while, preferably before the skin becomes red and painful. It is also best to avoid the sun at and around noon. It is better being out early morning or later in the day. And it goes without saying that you should never fall asleep in full sunlight, particularly near water because the reflection of the water adds to the load. Keep that in mind when you are actually ON the water like in a boat.

In case you did get too much sun there is some Homoeopathy that you can use, depending on the severity of the burn. Severe burns should always be looked at by a health professional. For minor burns there is the Homoeopathic remedy Causticum, which takes away the pain of the burn. If there is slight blistering you can use the Homoeopathic remedy Cantharis. For everything else seek medical help particularly if you feel dizzy, have a headache and when there is vomiting as well, or have any of these symptoms. Be safe, it is better to be safe than sorry. Best not to get burnt in the first place and time your exposure to the sun. So enjoy the Sunday.
