Sugar Again

It's probably not the right time of the year now, now that the mince pies and Christmas cakes are in the shops, to bang on about the dangers of sugar consumption again. Lets face it , I don't think that there ever will be the right time to tell you to stop eating sugar, so I won't do it. I have been there, stopping eating sugar for Lent and longer, but I'm back because I found that I just need it. It keeps me fuller for longer. I know that I have written about the danger of eating too much sugar before and I don't want to bore you, but new research, well new to me, revealed that eating sugar is not only more addictive than hard drugs, it actually changes the way we behave and make decisions. It is not just sugar, it is the difference between eating protein and carbohydrates.

Research actually showed that people who consumed more protein were more tolerant in their behaviour towards their fellow human beings. People who ate more carbohydrates were shown to be more sensible toward injustice.

The wrong diet full of sugar and empty of carbohydrates changes our behaviour and even might shrink the brain. Studies in prisons showed that the inmates who had a well balanced diet were less likely to end up in solitary confinement. The aggression rate came down by one third.

Sugar changing the behaviour is nothing new in Homoeopathy. I just need to look at the symptom picture of Sacharum officinale, the homoeopathic remedy made of cane sugar. In the mental symptoms it shows discontentment, fear of failure, irritability, violent temper and extreme aggression. In the remedy picture (particularly after eating sweets), there is also the fear of losing the love of a beloved person or the parents and the delusion that the siblings are loved more by the parents.

Sacharum officinale is not the only homoeopathic remedy which is able to deal with the ill effects of eating too much sugar. I will not say that you should not worry about all those mince pies and carry on eating because Homoeopathy can sort you out. It is not like that, you need to watch your diet and eat as healthily as you can. The occasional treat will not hurt you as long as it is an occasional treat.

The occasional treat won't hurt.
