What we all know

The Heart And The Soul?

We all know that we should look after our brains and our hearts because they are the most vital organs of the body. They are so important that we would die if one or the other is not working anymore. So we look after them as well as we can in the hope that we will live longer.

But do you actually know that there is another organ which is really crucial to our life and health? The organ I'm talking about is actually the liver. The liver is a very important organ in our body and is not only responsible for filtering and converting the alcohol in your body when you had something alcoholic to drink, it filters our blood all the time to keep it clean and free flowing so that the heart has an easier job pumping it around the body. The liver also converts the fat that you are eating into something your body can use as energy and stores the unusable rest away. It provides glucose for all the organs to use and has a lot more functions which are too many to name here. In short: The liver is a great organ which helps you to survive every minute of the day. It works hard to keep you safe from all the toxins which try to attack you. Your liver really looks after you. Do you really look after your liver?

At first you might not recognize it when your liver is not feeling well. There might be acne, a rash, or weight gain which is a mystery to you. You might be hungry all the time and don't sleep very well. You are not just greedy or lazy. You might not have been aware of it but when you show symptoms like that your liver might have suffered for years. Water in the abdomen is actually the last stage of a liver not working properly.

Looking after your liver is not too difficult. You do not have to juice celery every day and chew nettles, but a few more herbs and green vegetable in your diet, a little less caffeine and alcohol would make a difference. And then there is the fat. Try and eat less fat. Refined sugar is also something the liver doesn't need but it does need natural sugars from fruit. Refined sugar is particularly bad if it comes with fat, as is so often the case. Think of the doughnut or the cream tea. So it might be an idea to have an orange or an apple instead of that doughnut. Be mindful and your liver can do a better job for you.

And there is Homoeopathy of course. There are lots of homoeopathic remedies which can support the liver and help with the symptoms a sick liver might express. If you want to know a bit more about how to help your liver, contact me on 07813 195468.

Apparently apples are very good for the liver, but make sure that you have not eaten something fatty for at least 3 hours before you eat an apple.
