Work for the tooth fairy?
A Bullet To Bite
Going to the dentist was never easy, well, not for me, but now it is not only unpleasant, it is complicated and scary. The "New Normal" for patients and dentists is that at the moment only people with untreated dental emergencies for the last 3 months can be seen. That must be a relief for those people. Can you imagine having toothache for 3 months? The catch here, is that the dentist can only see you if you don't belong to the high risk groups. Furthermore, dentists are not allowed to use any instrument which creates an aerosol, so they cannot use the drill when filling cavities. The dentist can also only see one patient per hour.
To be seen by your, or a, dentist you have to ring well in advance to book an appointment. 3 days before your appointment, I've learned, your dentist will email you with questions about your and your familys' well-being and you have to submit your private, confidential information via the internet. If you have no computer then that is bad luck because there is no alternative. There might also be a video consultation the day before your appointment to complete the forms you have submitted before. Payment in advance via the internet or over the phone is necessary as well because the dentist cannot take any cash anymore.
The government advises that you clean your teeth, drink plenty of water and use the loo before you set out to see the dentist, because you cannot use the facilities at the dentist. Oh, and wear plenty of clothes because the dentist has to have the air conditioning on. Good luck with all of that. You are advised to bring only essential things with you because all your belongings need to go into a box once you are actually in the practice but there is still a way to go till you are there. The door to the practice will be locked when you arrive so you need to phone your dentist to let them know that you have arrived, so have a mobile phone handy. And you have to give notice if you traveled by public transport. Once your dentist knows that you are outside the practice they will ring you as soon as they have sanitized all the public areas and the treatment room from the previous patient and this person has evacuated the premises. Now it is your turn. The dental nurse will unlock the door for you, and you might find an alien in full protective gear behind the door. Don't worry, it might be the dental nurse. So all your belongings go in a box, you have to disinfect your hands and wear a mask, which you can only take off as soon as the dentist is ready to attend to your mouth. Oh, and I think that your temperature is going to be taken as well.
You are lucky because you have only to sanitize your hands after the treatment, the dentist has to disinfect to whole of his practice again. If there is anything to discuss about your treatment, the dentist will have to give you a ring later.
So let's hope that you do not need the dentist till the "new normal" becomes the "old normal" or "normal as we know" again. But if you do experience any tooth pain or are more frightened about your scheduled dental appointment, you may use Homoeopathy.
Homoeopathy might help you with the tooth pain till you can see your dentist. When you actually win the dental lottery and can book an appointment, there are plenty of remedies which can help you with fear and frustration, depending on the symptoms. So give me a ring on 07813 195468 if you need any help.
