A daisy chain for the fairy

The Modest Daisy

Who would not recognize a daisy in a lawn? This pretty little flower is wide spread though and I think it is the only flower geese won't eat. Who would have thought that this modest little flower has culinary and medical properties? You can actually eat the flowers (they are very tasty) in salads and the buds can be pickled in brine to create a kind of capers. But I will tell you how it became my savior in form of the Homoeopathic remedy Bellis perennis

My agony started with a step out of the conservatory door trying to get my feet into my gardening shoes. Somehow I got it wrong and hurt my toes twisting my left ankle. This was not a big thing at the time, my toes hurt more than the ankle and I could walk straight away, once the toes stopped being painful. My ankle became a bit more painful a little later and I noticed that it was difficult to get up after sitting down to have dinner. Going upstairs to bed was painful as well but not so much that I would even have considered taking Arnica. The real surprise came when I woke up during the night because I needed the loo. I couldn't stand up after swinging my legs out of bed, my ankle was so painful that I couldn't even stand on it, let alone walk. It took me a long time to get to the loo, hobbling along accompanied by moans and groans. When I managed to get back to bed I tried to go back to sleep but my foot was hurting so much that this was impossible. That was when the full impact hit me. I have never had problems like this, and I found it quite frightening not being able to walk. I did not worry too much because I have Homoeopathy but by that time it was too late for Arnica, as I found out. The mystery was that my foot looked completely normal, no swelling, no bruising, just the pain and my inability to use it. I lay in bed thinking what remedy I could try because there were no obvious symptoms. I went for Hypericum because I thought that I might have done something to the nerve and that gave me half an hour of sleep till my alarm clock went off. This was not the right remedy as I found out when I got out of bed because my foot was not really better, I could hardly make any progress forwards. I tried all the normal remedies I would suggest for this sort of injury for the next day but nothing made a difference. By that time the swelling came out and the foot looked a bit red.

Being in bed the following evening I was not able to go to sleep in the first place, I just couldn't get into a comfortable position. However I positioned myself or my foot, it was just plain painful. That brought the remedy Bellis perennis, the remedy made from the humble daisy, to mind. One of the keynotes of this remedy is "Not being able to find a comfortable position". So out I got, hobbled to my medicine chest and took a dose of it. Without joking: I lay in bed and I could feel the remedy working on my foot.

Getting up the next morning was a lot easier. The pain was a lot less, I could walk but I had to be careful. This is the nice thing about Homoeopathy. It doesn't switch the pain off so that you think that you could do everything as normal again. I took the remedy during the day and in the evening my foot was as good as normal. I'm still careful, still taking the remedy once or twice a day, and I'm tempted to go for a walk but I think I will wait till the rain stops.

I'm so grateful to this little plant and that I have this wonderful, natural medicine in my life. Contact me on 07813 195468 if you want to know a bit more about homoeopathy and how it might help you.
