The Chill

In The Dark, Cold Winter

Most mornings are now frosty and damp. This is not only the right weather for colds and coughs to start, there are other ailments which come with the cold.

I'm talking about chill blains. They can appear on the fingers and toes in cold weather because of bad circulation to these parts of your body. They can itch, be hot and red and are very painful when knocked. Sometimes they open as well and then they are really ugly wounds with the possibility of infection.

I have been suffering from chill blains as long as I can remember. It took me a while to recognize that those itchy lumps on my fingers in winter are not the bite of a hiding mosquito. Sometimes all the fingers on one hand would swell up to such an  extent that I couldn't get my rings off anymore. This was really frightening. And painful.

It has got a lot better since I started to use Homoeopathy. There are lots of Homoeopathic remedies which can be used to treat chill blains. Apis mellifica  is one of the remedies which might help when there is excessive swelling with burning and itching, particularly if the affected toe or finger hurts more when it comes into contact with something hot. There are lot more remedies for problems with chill blains because in Homoeopathy we don't just help the chill blains, we help the whole person who suffers from chill blains.

The remedy you need depends on your person and your symptoms. It is also possible that you might need a constitutional treatment to keep your susceptibility to chill blains under control after we have dealt with the acute flare up. Over the years with Homoeopathic treatment my flare ups are less painful but I still get them in winter so I still need to work on my constitution. This might take some more time, but I hope that I will eventually get rid of them for good. If you suffer from chill blains on fingers or toes please get in contact with me. I'm sure we can work together to get you back to health. Please note that due to the current situation I still can only do online consultations. Looking forward to hear from you.
