It Is Not Only About Health 

I was attending the annual conference of my governing body, the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths, at the weekend. There were lots of interesting talks and I've learned a lot again. I was so excited to hear about fossil remedies and what they can do for you. It is not only the new information about Homoeopathic remedies I get, I love to study Materia Medica. 

This is the knowledge about the remedies we use in Homoeopathy and in all medicine. The knowledge of the Materia Medica is obtained through experience, that comes from using substances for a long time, from poisoning (which most of the time happened by accident), or from provings. 

And it's provings I'm talking about here. I was struck by the mention of the fact that we do not just give a remedy, we actually give love. Yes, we give the love of somebody who suffered voluntarily to obtain the information about a remedy that could actually help you. In a proving a healthy person takes the substance which we want to obtain information from, until the person starts to get symptoms. This happens over a certain period of time under supervision. All symptoms are written down and collected at the end of the proving by the supervisor. 

Unfortunately I took never part in a proving but it is very interesting. One of my teachers took part in the proving for cobweb. He said that he could feel a spider walking out of him after the proving. All who take part in a proving do not know what substance they are proving but the symptoms can be intense. One of the ladies who took part in a proving at my college suffered for ever after the proving. One of the symptoms of the remedy which was proven was "recurrence in spring" and this lady got all the symptoms every spring again. If that is not love, than what is it?
