Into the fire

Fire Nights

Last week was Halloween, tonight is bonfire night, where the bad guy is burned. At the beginning of November all the spooky souls are out hunting across the sky, you can hear it in the wind. So there are lots of bad spectres around and a big fire is going to be needed to banish them all. Dark times ask for big lights.

It is just as well that a lot of groups and communities make a big celebration of bonfire night with a proper effigy being made and thrown into the fire. There might be food and drink as well and fire works for the noise. Spectres will need a lot of noise to go away in the dark. And there needs to be a big fire to burn the guy. Fire is not only warmth in the cold and light in the dark, it is also fascinating, and very HOT.

It is quite tempting to go as near as possible, particularly for children who don't see a lot of open fires anymore. Some times there is not even a real candle in the Halloween pumpkins for safety reasons, quite understandable. Turn your back for a second and there could be an accident, with sparks flying and children getting nearer and nearer. Burns should always be treated by medical professionals, particularly if they are as big as the palm of your hand or on the face. Burns are very painful as well. Homoeopathy can help with the pain but the best thing is to stay safe and some distance away from the fire. The effigy should be burned not you. Have a nice bonfire night.
