A Beautiful Flower
My favourite wild flowers are in bloom again. I just love the bright sky blue colour which gives a blue haze in the midst of grass or undergrowth.
I always thought that it was eye bright, that lovely plant which is so good for the eyes and helps with allergies. After doing a bit of research I found out that it is actually not eye bright or Euphrasaia as the homoeopathic remedy is called and which has such a good effect on the mucus membranes of the eye. It is mainly used for allergies of the eye or hay fever where indicated.
I found out that my lovely little flower is Germander Speedwell of the Veronica family. There is a homoeopathic remedy of common speedwell but it does not play as great a role in Homoeopathy as Euphrasia.
The relative of my favourite flower, the common speedwell, Veronica officinalis, has keynotes of great mental anxiety, stiffness in lumbar region, persistent bronchical cough and sharp pain in hips. I don't think I ever used it or that I have it in my remedy chest. I must admit, that I'm a bit disappointed that my favourite wild flower is not the great healer but I still do love it. Not a comfort for the eye anymore so maybe I start calling it delight for the eye.
I just noticed that the one of the symptoms of Veronica officinalis is dreaming of smoking cigarettes. I could have made good use of it while I stopped smoking. Almost every night I dreamt of smoking and felt very guilty till I woke up and noticed it was only a dream.
Such a lovely little plant. A delight for my eye. |
