A calming friend
An Almost Invisible Friend
This little plant might have saved many lives and most of the time you only notice it by the smell when you tread on it by accident. There are different species of Chamomile around, some of them only covering the ground and giving off a wonderful sweet smell when you stand on them. Used as herbal tea or a poultice it helped me many times with skin irritations and nausea. It is my first port of call when I'm sick with a migraine. The blue oil of the German chamomile is something very special and powerful, and should only be used diluted.
But this humble flower can do even more as the homoeopathic remedy Chamomilla vulgaris. It is particularly suited to highly emotional, temperamental and oversensitive people who suffer from pain out of proportion to the ailment. It is also a good remedy for the ill effects of anger which means that all your ailments become worse after somebody or something has vexed you. With those keynotes it is a very effective remedy for teething children where symptoms match. Don't forget: In Homoeopathy we treat people not diseases. A little story comes here to mind. There once was a renowned master Homoeopath who was observed by a student Homoeopath. The master was treating a patient who suffered from warts. When the lady returned for her follow up, the warts were gone. The student made the assumption that the master was prescribing Thuja for her which is the main remedy associated with warts. As soon as the master left the consulting room, the student had a look at the notes of his master. He was amazed that the master actually prescribed Chamomilla for her. When questioned by the student, the master replied that he was not giving a remedy for the warts but for the person in front of him and that this was Chamomilla.
