Ready To Repair
I must admit that I'm not very good at sewing. I never learned it in school and my mother was very good at sewing by hand but not by machine and she had a very short fuse and little patience. My aunt helped me with my crocheting but in terms of sewing I'm self-made. I don't do dresses or clothes I just do repairs.
I can close a seam and sew a button on. That was particularly useful when the children were small, and it still is useful, but what was very useful when I was a student was darning socks. I had little money to buy socks and lets face it, you do not need to throw the whole pair of socks away just because one has a hole.
I must admit that I like things which have been darned. There is a certain chic to it. I once made a deal with my sister. She should teach me how to darn in exchange for a meal. So off I went buying one of those darning mushrooms, which I still have by the way, and learned to weave the little threads of darning wool into a nice little pattern to fill the hole. It is a bit fiddley particularly when you have to darn something dark and you use matching thread. It can be quite fun, if you don't but some people prefer to have the hole matching. I don't do that very often nowadays because my sock are usually very good but recently I bought some bamboo socks and one got a hole in the heel. So out I brought my kit and got going. So that is sorted for another year or so.
I like to sort things out here and there. I have to confess that I used to sew the hole together before I could darn. With just a needle and thread I closed the hole and wore the sock again. You can imagine that this didn't work. It is like sticking a plaster on.
This is the thing with Homoeopathy I really like. Homoeopathy means that you are not masking an issue, but kick your system into a response. This can happen with any ailments you are suffering from. And it happens without any side effects. Homoeopathy is also not addictive so it is safe to use it over and over again when needed.
