Flower power

The Power Of The Flower

It is this time of year when the clematis is starting to flower. We have several in the garden and some of them smell lovely. They also last a long time, including the scent, if there is not too much rain when they are in flower. Looking at my clematis in the garden I'm always reminded of a beautiful Homoeopathic remedy which is called "Aristolochia Clematitis".

Of course this plant has not very much in common with my clematis in the garden apart from that they are both climbers and share a part of the name. It is a beautiful plant with delicate flowers and it produces fruit as well but I have never knowingly seen one in real life. In our climate you would probably only see it in Botanical gardens.

The Aristolochia Clematitis is part of the Aristolochiaceae family and grows in Southern Europe and South America. Its common name is "Common Birthwort" and I think that gives away a lot of what it was used for and still is as a Homoeopathic remedy. It is a remedy which I would give mostly to my female patients when indicated but I have given it to male patients as well where it was indicated. It is mainly used for problems around the period and childbirth but has other keynotes as well which would make it suitable for the male population.

This is the nice thing about Homoeopathy. It is for the person and not for a disease. It is a very individual medicine and as Homoeopaths we take the whole person into account with all the mental, emotional and physical states. That means that a Homoeopathic consultation can take a long time, up to 2 hours, comparted to the 15 minutes you might get somewhere else. Have a go and try for yourself how it feels to be taken seriously about your health concerns. Give me a ring on 07813 195468.

Not the same but still beautiful.
